Douglas Smith

Program Associate

Douglas Smith joined NCCD as a program associate in May 2016, bringing with him a variety of social work experience. For years, in both Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin, Douglas worked directly with runaway and homeless youth and their families through his various positions at two different youth crisis shelters. In Waukesha, Wisconsin, Douglas served as operations manager of a small nonprofit, serving individuals in recovery from alcohol or other drugs. Additionally, he interned at the City of West Allis Housing Authority, assisting with the administration of various housing and rent assistance programs.

Douglas received his MSW from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where his primary focus was in policy and administration. While completing his master’s degree, Douglas interned at the Goodman Community Center, the largest community center in Madison, where he assisted in program and policy development. Douglas has a passion for eliminating disparity and inequity through innovative and evidenced-based social policy and practice.
