Patchwork Health Care for Reservation Inmates Raises Concern
In collaboration with the Criminal Justice Project, reporter Mary Hudetz exposes the lack of medical care for those incarcerated in federally funded jails located on Native American reservations. The article quotes Lynette Bonar, chief executive of a hospital that regularly treats inmates from a nearby jail on the Navajo Nation, saying: “You have people that are corrections officers giving people pills.
