New York Times Publishes Interactive Article on Sentencing Lengths

December 9, 2016 | by Timothy WilliamsThe New York Times

The New York Times published an article that lets readers review the sentences of four individuals who are currently incarcerated and convicted of violent crimes. All four men were teenagers or young adults when they were sent to prison, and all received long sentences. The article draws from a recent report by the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law, which concludes that to reduce prison populations it would be necessary to release some individuals convicted of violent crimes after serving “sufficient” time in prison.
