NCCD’s own Dr. Lynna McPhatter-Harris, a program associate whose primary work is to assist child welfare agencies in implementing strengths-based, solution-focused social work skills, is interviewed about her work for a podcast called Lamorinda Living. The podcast, which features “cool people doing cool stuff,” is primarily for those living in Moraga, Orinda, and Lafayette, California. However, Dr. McPhatter-Harris gives a solid overview of NCCD’s work to improve child welfare systems across the country and around the world. She reports already receiving positive feedback from those who have listened. A San Francisco Sheriff’s Department sergeant told her that “after listening to it, he found himself thinking differently about the work being done by child protection, and he thought more about the impact of their decisions on the decisions made by CPS.” The full podcast runs about 35 minutes and can be heard here.
