Luncheon with Melodee Hanes of OJJDP: The Third Event in NCCD's Policy and Practice Series
With a special introduction and welcoming remarks by San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón.
The discussion focused on OJJDP's work and major initiatives as they relate to the opportunities and challenges in California. Melodee Hanes addressed topics such as: school discipline and school-to-prison pipeline issues; the Attorney General's Defending Childhood Task Force, its past hearings, upcoming report, and work around children exposed to violence; the recently released Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards; and healthy developmental tracks for those involved in the juvenile justice system.
