Jovan Goodman, APSW, joined NCCD’s social services practice team in 2018. Previously she worked for the Division of Milwaukee Child Protective Services (DMCPS), first as a child welfare case manager and later as a child welfare supervisor of a team in the intensive in-home and ongoing child welfare service programs. During her time at DMCPS, Jovan served on a historical trauma committee and equity council that worked to effectively educate and train staff. She also began a reconciliation project and created an affinity group for women of color interested in leadership. Jovan has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin–Parkside and studied abroad as an undergraduate at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. As a graduate student, Jovan enjoyed partnering with service delivery systems to develop and facilitate evidence-based programming for children and families impacted by trauma. She received her MSW degree with a concentration in child welfare from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
