Aman Sebahtu

Community Violence Prevention Program Manager

Aman Sebahtu joined NCCD in 2017 as the community violence prevention program manager in the Oakland, California, office, where he is developing a portfolio of community-driven violence prevention research and initiatives. Among other projects, he also contributes to NCCD’s ongoing work on federal monitoring of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, implementation of Los Angeles County’s Campus Kilpatrick, and evaluation of the Beloved Community: West Contra Costa Partnership for Youth project. An Oakland native, Aman was previously a site manager at the W. Haywood Burns Institute, where he collaborated with system and community stakeholders to reduce racial disparities in the juvenile and adult criminal justice systems. He earned a BA in sociology and African American studies from Emory University and a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
