A Retrospective Support Assessment Study of Foster and Relative Care Providers

Five California counties worked with CRC to develop an actuarial tool that would classify relative caregivers and licensed foster homes based on probability of future maltreatment or disruption due to departmental disapproval or corrective action. The study led to the creation of a powerful tool that can help agencies reduce maltreatment and increase placement stability by providing increased support to resource families who are at increased risk.
