Assessments May Help Prevent Youth in Child Welfare From Involvement in Juvenile Justice

December 14, 2015 | by NCCDJuvenile Justice Information Exchange

Juvenile Justice Information Exchange reporter Sarah Barr interviewed NCCD's chief program officer, Dr. Jesse Russell, about NCCD's new report, A Profile of Youth in the Los Angeles County Delinquency Prevention Pilot, released last week. The report details how NCCD worked with Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services to create an actuarial screening instrument to discern which children in the child welfare system were at a higher likelihood for becoming involved in the juvenile justice system. The work was supported by the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform through a grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
